This Extended Grip Safety is CNC machined from hardened tool steel and designed to provide a more positive deactivation of the safety when the pistol is properly gripped. It also helps to position your hand high on the pistol for a more consistent grip. It doesn't hurt that it looks great also. The kit includes a replacement grip safety spring. **This extended grip safety fits all XD and XDM pistols EXCEPT the XD and XD Mod 2 models in .45 caliber. Due to the tolerances of the XD/XDM pistols, this safety may require minor fitting of the engagement surface**
